At this year’s Roskilde Festival, World Dance Academy invites us to explore how dance can be used as a tool to confront racism and ignorance.
With Exploring Antiracism Through Dance, World Dance Academy highlights dance styles born from struggles against inequality and oppression – and shows how they continue to serve as powerful expressions of survival and belonging.
Across three interactive dance workshops with professional dancers, you’ll explore dance styles from DR Congo, Jamaica, and the US. Then, the floor opens for Culture Clash Dance Battle – a high-energy all styles 2-vs-2 battle featuring Afrobeats, Dancehall, and Hip Hop.
The event culminates in an Exhibition Battle, where the judges engage in a dynamic conversation through dance, followed by an open dance floor inviting everyone to celebrate that dance is more than just movement – it’s a force for dialogue and a way to unite across differences and cultures.
The dance association World Dance Academy is a platform for dance, education, events, and battles with a focus on styles that are deeply rooted in global dance culture. Most of the styles they represent are rooted in street dance cultures from Africa, the Caribbean, and South America. World Dance Academy is a school for all young people who want to explore dance and become part of a positive community.
