With the poetry collection Institutionaliseret Haidar Ansari provides a direct insight into an upbringing with violence, crime, and one institution after another. Listen to him read selected poems. 

Haidar Ansari grew up in Urbanplanen on Amager. In 2022, at just 21 years old, he entered Danish literature when he debuted with the poetry collection Institutionaliseret while serving a prison sentence. Many young people, who have been previously punished, are struggling today with large debts from legal costs, which can lead more people to prioritize a proper defense in a trial. Haidar Ansari has been a strong voice in the public debate on young people's right to a fair trial.
