500,000 DKK to Sex & Samfund

28.06.2024Commitment

Aurora has chosen Sex & Samfund as the recipient of this year's Orange Donation.

Roskilde Festival is a non-profit festival. This means that each year, we donate our surplus to benefit children and young people. And we have a tradition of inviting an artist performing on Orange Stage to select a special donation recipient – a tradition we call Orange Donation.

This year's Orange Donation has been chosen by the Norwegian pop sensation Aurora, who will perform on Orange Stage Friday 5 July. Aurora has selected The Danish Family Planning Association to receive 500,000 DKK. This amount is specifically earmarked for The Danish Family Planning Association's "Skærmkrop" (Screen body) project, which highlights how the body ideals on social media affect children and young people's perceptions of their own bodies.

The themes of screen body and beauty standards on social media are also topics that Aurora herself cares deeply about. She has just released the critically acclaimed album What Happened To The Heart, where she illuminates themes such as body image and the beauty and fragility of the human mind.

A crucial battle for youth online well-being

The Danish Family Planning Association has been advocating for the right to control one's own body for the past 60 years. The organization is particularly known for the initiative "Uge Sex" – an annual educational program about gender, body, and sexuality aimed at primary school students nationwide. The Orange Donation contributes to recognizing and strengthening the important work that The Danish Family Planning Association does.

The Roskilde Festival Group aims to engage art and artists at our festival in making a difference, and we are happy that Aurora has chosen The Danish Family Planning Association. They deserve tremendous praise for their crucial work in enhancing young people's online well-being.

The purpose of the Roskilde Festival Group is to support the opportunities for children and young people, with a strong focus on enhancing youth mental well-being. Our scale obligates us to take responsibility and use our voice to raise awareness and create change.
