Important weather information

02.07.2025The festival

Wednesday brings both extreme heat and the risk of heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong gusts of wind. Here’s what you need to know – and do.

Temperatures in Roskilde are expected to reach between 32 and 34°C today, making it one of the hottest festival days ever. But later in the day, the weather is set to change dramatically.

The Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) has issued a level 2 warning for severe weather in eastern Denmark – including Roskilde. This means you should be prepared for heavy rain, thunder, hail and powerful gusts of wind this evening. The warning is in effect all day, and especially tonight.

You may experience:

  • Torrential rain with more than 15 mm falling in just 30 minutes
  • Intense lightning and thunder
  • Hail
  • Gusts of wind reaching storm strength

What to do:

Before the storm hits:

  • Use sunscreen, stay in the shade and drink water. It will be extremely hot during the day, so take care of yourself and your friends.
  • Make sure your tent is properly secured. Strong gusts can lift or damage tents that aren’t firmly fastened.
  • Take down your pavilion or lower its height. Fold away chairs and tables, and store them inside your tent. Also clear your camp of rubbish and loose items that could be picked up by the wind.
  • Pack your belongings tightly and keep them dry. Use bags, plastic covers or similar to protect electronics, clothes and sleeping gear from downpours.

Stay updated via the app, our screens, and our hosts around the festival site.

If lightning and thunder arrive

There are no completely safe places from lightning at the festival, but here’s what you can do to reduce the risk:

  • Sit down in an open area and make yourself as small as possible. Avoid high ground and keep a safe distance from trees, masts and other tall structures.
  • Stay away from metal objects. Move away from the front-of-stage fence, tent poles and similar items. The bridge and some stages may be temporarily closed.
  • Listen to our hosts and follow instructions. We’ll send updates from the stages and via the app to keep you informed in good time.

We’re monitoring the weather closely and will keep you informed throughout the day.

If you start feeling unwell, remember that you can go to the first aid station in East – located between Handicamp and Get A Place East.

Take good care of yourself and each other.
