Sanitary conditions, squat urinals, and free menstrual products

Here you can find information and facts about sanitary conditions at Roskilde Festival 2024

Free menstrual products

In collaboration with the Swedish company Herbox AB, we offer free menstrual products at this year’s festival.

Festival participants have access to free organic tampons and pads via automatic dispensers, which are located at 15 different places around the festival site.

The dispensers have a mechanical 45-second time delay, so only one product can be taken at a time, which aims to ensure that there are enough pads and tampons for everyone.

The products are made of pure, organic cotton and contain no chemicals or bleaches.

Menstrual cup at the festival

Unfortunately, we do not have the opportunity to offer clean water inside each toilet booth, as these are temporary toilet wagons and permanent toilet buildings with common sinks. Therefore, if you use a menstrual cup, you cannot rinse the cup inside the toilet itself. In our kiosks and supermarkets, you can buy cleaning wipes, and there is water and soap at the sinks outside the toilets.

Squat urinals

At this year’s festival, we are testing a variety of squat urinals.

Squat urinals are intended for women and others who need to squat when they pee.

We wish to have more squat urinals at Roskilde Festival, and therefore this year we are testing different models to find out which ones work best at our festival.

We have had squat urinals in several places at the festival in previous years, but for the first time, we are testing several designs to find the perfect solution that can be rolled out across the entire festival in the future.

Number of toilets

At the Inner Festival Site, there are a total of 550 toilets, 31 traditional urinals, and 9 squat urinals. Nearly 200 meters of PeeFence is planned. In addition, there are 6 handicap toilets at the Inner Festival Site.

At the camping area, there are 824 toilets, 24 traditional urinals. Nearly 150 meters of PeeFence is planned. There are also 11 handicap toilets at the camping area.

Cleaning and maintenance

We always strive to create the best possible sanitary conditions, as we know it is important for the festival experience.

There are flush toilets everywhere at both the Inner Festival Site and the camping area. Outside the toilet wagons there are sinks, and we ensure that there is soap available. In several places, there are also set up larger sinks with many taps.
