THURSDAY 3 JULY

Danceable pop party from leading Danish producer

  • Thursday 3 July

One of the main architects behind some of the biggest Danish hits of recent times will step into the spotlight when Anton Westerlin releases his first album under his own name - and presents the music live when he visits Roskilde Festival with one of a select few shows this summer.

As a producer, Westerlin has helped define the sound of Danish hip-hop in close collaborations with names like Lamin, Artigeardit and Kesi. Artists such as Tessa, Kundo and D1MA have also benefited from Westerlin's masterful songwriting and production touch. Through the YouTube series Behind the Curtains, he has let the audience into the engine room where the big hits are made, which has made him a familiar face to many music fans, even if he hasn't stepped on stage himself.

Not until now, anyway. Westerlin has been working on his debut album under his own name for a long time, and with the first single, "Blodigt", he shows that his unerring sense for hits goes far beyond hip hop. Westerlin teams up with Danish pop comet Annika, who also has the honour of opening the Orange Stage at this year's Roskilde Festival. Together they present a club-friendly banger with a sweaty dance pulse and references to South African amapiano, European house and American funk with Annika's soul-inspired vocals.

The single has already been followed up by the funky banger "Entré" featuring Lamin and Ozzy, which reached number one on Spotify's Top 50 - Denmark. Expectations are running high for Westerlin's debut album, which will be released ahead of his concert at Roskilde Festival. The stage is set for an exciting new chapter in the star producer's career, and you are invited to a danceable pop party of the highest calibre when Westerlin performs one of the few concerts of the summer.
