In a lineage of celebrated alternative rock names that includes Mitski, Japanese Breakfast, and lo-fi icons like Pavement and Daniel Johnston, British artist Beabadoobee has established herself as the one carrying this heavy legacy forward. This summer, the masterful songwriter can be experienced with her full band on the iconic Orange Stage in what will be her only Scandinavian show of the season.
Beabadoobee, real name Beatrice Laus, manages to create songs that capture a special mood between the rawness of youth and dreamy atmospheres. Her musical universe is deeply personal and intimate, yet it resonates strongly with the times.
From producing youthful slacker anthems in her bedroom, the Filipino-British artist has grown into an incandescent generational voice. On her three critically acclaimed albums, she has unfolded deeply relevant songs rooted in a legacy of 90s alternative rock, grunge, dream pop, and lo-fi. Her gifted indie songs have not only drawn strong comparisons but also earned her a spot touring with megastars like Taylor Swift and Roskilde headliner Olivia Rodrigo.
On her latest album, the excellent This Is How Tomorrow Moves (2024), she continues to bridge personal songwriting, strong pop melodies, and alternative rock, this time collaborating with legendary producer Rick Rubin. The album has received massive critical acclaim and sets expectations high for her performance at Roskilde Festival this summer.
