Led by the outstanding songwriter Conor Oberst, Bright Eyes has built a dedicated following with their personal expression that combines folk, alternative rock, and elements of country.
Many were therefore excited when the band, after keeping a low profile in the 2010s, teased a reunion in early 2020. The promise was kept with the album Down in the Weeds, Where the World Once Was, described by NME as "a heroic return" and ended up on several lists of best releases of 2020.
Since then, collaborations with Phoebe Bridgers, Waxahatchee and others have followed – names that bear witness to the huge mark Bright Eyes has made on today's indie folk scene. It has been clearly demonstrated since they started touring again that the band can still grab the audience by the heart with songs that balance between fragile intimacy and richly orchestrated arrangements. Conor Oberst has also shown that he remains a highly charismatic frontman and a strong singer.
In 2024, Bright Eyes followed up the successful reunion album with the equally excellent Five Dice, All Threes with guest appearances from the likes of Cat Power and The National's Matt Berninger. Now the band brings both new songs and their rich catalog of classics to Roskilde Festival, where they last performed in 2011. It will undoubtedly be a joyful reunion!
