Rarely has a debut album been as stylish as British talent Fabiana Palladino's masterful self-titled effort, released on Paul Institute/XL Recordings to standing ovations in 2024. Some media outlets called it the best debut album of the year, while others simply proclaimed Fabiana Palladino one of the year’s best records.
Palladino has created a pristine sound that simultaneously exudes timeless pop classicism, 80s-sounding retro charm and futuristic innovation. Pop music with a sense of both sensual elegance and ambitious arrangements that has led critics to compare her to the likes of Prince, Solange and Janet Jackson.
Fabiana Palladino's sound has also been compared to the tasteful pop creations of Jessie Ware, and indeed Ware has been a mentor of sorts for the British musician, described by The Fader as "hypnotically cool and impenetrably chic".
