Hip-hop's potential for protest finds new and vital passages in the uncompromising expression of Irish group Kneecap.

The group emerged from Belfast's activist scene. Bringing the controversy into their music, their first single "C.E.A.R.T.A." was banned from Irish radio station RTÉ due to its raw language, which, on the other hand, has earned Kneecap a massive fan base.

With superb creativity they mix Irish slang and English words in songs rife with biting satire, social indignation and almost surreal poetry. Their verbal punches are of aimed at English nationalism and colonialism, but the group also always stand in solidarity with a global fight against colonialists and oppressors.

Their original expression can be enjoyed to the fullest on the acclaimed 2024 album Fine Art, which not only offers linguistic mastery, but also a captivating mix of hip-hop, Celtic folk, rave culture, dancehall and more. Kneecap has built a reputation as a fantastic live act, and now you can finally experience them in Denmark when they visit Roskilde Festival!
