Posthuman vocal magic and queer folk music from the future

  • Saturday 5 July

Lyra Pramuk invites audiences to enter a futuristic space of transformation, where inspirations from electronic club culture and the storytelling power of folk music are united by a spectacular vocalist and performer.

Futuristic folk music is what Lyra Pramuk's style was dubbed when she debuted with the album Fountain in 2020. On the album, she unfolds magnificent soundscapes, all intimately emanating from her own vocals, which are both allowed to sound in pure form and transformed by electronic manipulations into a post-human polyphony of voices.

With emotional impact, sensuality and curiosity, Lyra Pramuk explores a non-binary understanding of life and its fragile ecosystems, and the album received high praise from the music press. "An oh-so-timely reminder that the body is a site of infinite possibility," wrote Pitchfork, naming Fountain Best New Music. Other critics compared Lyra Pramuk's vocals to the likes of ANOHNI and Lisa Gerrard.

Since that remarkable debut, Lyra Pramuk has collaborated with artists such as Ben Frost and Holly Herndon, and her impressive vocals can be heard on the soundtrack to Robert Eggers' film The Northman. Most recently, Pramuk, a trans woman herself, contributed to the trans-activist compilation TRAИƧA, where she joins Sam Smith and Moses Sumney on the disco classic "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)". Look forward to experiencing Pramuk's vocal magic at Roskilde Festival this summer.
