We have a significant responsibility to help solve the climate crisis and ensure good living conditions for future generations. We can do this on many fronts, one of which involves energy – our consumption of heat and electricity and phasing out fossil fuels like diesel and gas in favor of renewable energy. This way, our energy consumption creates less air pollution and a lower climate footprint.
In 2022, we entered a five-year partnership with the energy company Andel, which this year has developed an Energy Battle in the festival's camping area in agora H. Perhaps you've already seen it. If so, you probably also know that you can compete for tickets to Roskilde Festival 2025, as well as daily food tickets up for grabs.
Here you can challenge a friend or neighboring camp to a duel, competing in trivia about the festival's consumption patterns.
"We are constantly working on improving Roskilde Festival's energy use, and Energy Battle is a fun way to spread knowledge about green energy. So far, it has been well-attended," says Henriette Weber, Communications Partner at Andel.
Two people who competed for honor and the chance to win tickets to next year's festival are Markus and Helena, who were on an adventure that spontaneously brought them to the Energy Battle. They both praise the setup and the physical format.
"Sometimes you had to think a bit, and after days of heavy drinking, it's good to get a little activated and use your brain," says 27-year-old Markus, while 26-year-old Helena, among other things, learned an interesting fact about the festival's total consumption of fries.
Helena and Markus continue their festival adventure, before 27-year-old Amalie enter the Energy Battle. She sought out Energy Battle, she says, in hopes of doing something active. She scored six out of six correct answers and got exactly what she came for.
"It was fun. It was different, and it was nice to do something that didn’t involve drinking. I was surprised at how many fries are consumed at the festival. That way, I learned something."
