Experience NATURE at Platform

27.06.2024Programme

Join a world premiere as NATURE takes the stage for the first time at Roskilde Festival as an official artist, delivering a series of performances on the Platform stage.

4.6 billion years after showcasing her immense musical talent for the first time, NATURE is now finally acknowledged as an official artist. This means that NATURE holds composer's rights and receives royalties when you stream NATURE's music.

And you might already be doing so. NATURE has collaborated with names like David Bowie, Ellie Goulding, and MØ – and for decades, NATURE's captivating sounds have been a life-giving source for some of our time's greatest artists. It sounds right that NATURE finally receives this recognition.

We owe this achievement to a number of organisations. The initiative is called Sounds Right and is led by the Museum for the United Nations – UN Live. By recognising NATURE as an artist, they aim to inspire millions of people around the globe, spark new conversations about the role of nature, and, importantly, fund nature conservation worldwide.

This year at Roskilde Festival, we are making history. It is the first time NATURE is included as part of the lineup. On our playful and experimental Platform stage, you can experience some of this year's artists performing alongside NATURE's sounds, recorded and curated by the organisations VozTerra and The Listening Planet, who advocate for greater nature conservation.

These artists will perform with NATURE:

AySay

Experience AySay's exploration of the organic fusion of their musical universe with the sounds of NATURE. AySay's music bridges cultures and traditions with a mission to add more nuances to what Danish music can be.

The performance will be followed by a conversation where AySay look into themes such as NATURE’s contribution to the development of music within the different ecosystems that AySay draws inspiration from, how an artist can listen and recognise oneself in NATURE, and the potential for new musical trends emerging from this artistic collaboration.

Thursday 4 July at 13:30 on Platform.

Louis VI & Allen Anjeh

Born in Cameroon and raised in Denmark, Allen Anjeh has found her own artistic expression in a warm and organic approach to neo-soul and alternative R&B. Louis VI is a British producer, rapper, and climate activist who has gained global recognition for his experimental approach to alternative hip hop and jazz.

The performance will be followed by a conversation where Allen Anjeh and Louis VI look into themes such as how NATURE intertwines with our sense of belonging and expression, and how their relationship with NATURE has been shaped by their places and cultures of origin and nuanced by living in the diaspora.

Friday 5 July at 13:45 on Platform.

Experience NATURE as a solo artist

At Roskilde Festival, you also have the chance to witness the very first time NATURE performs solo as an official artist. Spend the calm nighttime hours on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at Platform, and open your senses, relax, and reconnect with NATURE.

On Wednesday and Friday, you can journey through the five regions of the Amazon and the tropical Andes and listen to how NATURE creates transitions from dawn to afternoon, to dusk and into night. Experience what it feels like to be surrounded by the planet's wildest and most biodiverse forest, its depth, roars, heavy rains, and chorus of animals and microorganisms.

Amazonia: Wednesday night 3 July at 01:00 and Friday night 5 July at 01:00 on Platform.

On Thursday night, immerse yourself in the power of Scandinavian soundscapes and wildlife – from the ethereal creaking of ice to the chorus of migrating bird flocks, from thunderstorms and avalanches to the howls of wolves and the dawn of a new day. NATURE's Nordic rhythms and melodies are both disharmonious and intertwined, telling stories of resilience and elegance, fragility and strength.

Scandinavia: Thursday night 4 July at 01:00 on Platform.
