With a deep knowledge of the tradition, the duo Bedouin Burger creates a well-crafted, beautiful and catchy take on Arabic music for a new age.
Syrian vocalist Lynn Adib and Lebanese multi-instrumentalist Zeid Hamdan met in Lebanon and formed a musical kinship that led to the 2020 single "Taht El Wared". Hamdan is a pioneer of the Lebanese alternative scene, known for his electropop collaboration Soapkills with Yasmine Hamdan. In the classically trained Syrian singer Adib, he has found a dazzling new musical partner whose voice beautifully combines elements of jazz, soul and traditional Arabic music.
The meeting of Adib's vocals and Hamdan's flair for futuristic sounds and hypnotic rhythms creates magic on their debut album, Ma Li Beit (2024). The duo's reputation as an exciting new name on the Arab music scene has also manifested itself in sessions for the likes of Tiny Desk and KEXP.
Their name is inspired by Adib's childhood memories of traveling Bedouins who would play music at weddings and other celebrations. The poetic memories color compositions that look into the future, and you can look forward to a rare experience when Bedouin Burger visits Roskilde Festival.
