THURSDAY 3 JULY

Magical interplay from the finest ambassadors of Nordic folk music

You'd be hard pressed to find a trio that plays better together than Dreamers' Circus. Since coming together in 2009, they have won numerous awards for their poetic and dazzling take on Nordic folk music and have swept audiences off their feet in both intimate folk clubs and large concert halls around the world.

Nikolaj Busk (piano and accordion), Rune Tonsgaard Sørensen (violin) and Ale Carr (cittern) met for a jam session where a special magic happened between them. For over 15 years now, they have cultivated this magic with great musical ambitions, but also with an eye for music to live and breathe in the close interplay.

As three musical adventurers, they continue to curiously explore a universe between folk music archetypes and imaginative innovations that bring the traditions of folk music in harmony with the present and with elements of jazz, classical chamber music and modern popular music. Just listen to their new album, Handed On, which celebrates the importance of oral tradition, community, shared heritage and the living, contemporary tradition of Nordic music in both title and exuberant compositions.

Handed On is yet another strong argument for why Dreamers' Circus remain some of the foremost ambassadors of Nordic folk music. However, nothing beats experiencing the trio's magical interplay live, and luckily, you'll have the chance to do just that this summer when they visit Roskilde Festival.
