As the frontman of British band Black Midi, Geordie Greep has helped renew faith in the rock band as an innovative force. The band were quickly lauded as heralds of a new progressive direction in rock, with a wealth of ideas and the musical energy to take audiences on a wild rollercoaster ride of impressions.
In the summer of 2024, the band announced a hiatus, and just a few months later Greep released his first solo album, The New Sound, whose title says a lot about the visionary musician's eternal search for new expressions and ideas, which this time has led him to collaborate with a number of Brazilian musicians.
With a lavish array of musical styles ranging from pop and avant-garde rock to jazz and obscure soundtracks, Greep proves that even as a soloist, he can deliver both entertaining and overwhelming songs that shake up conventional thinking. His sense of drama and quirky musical juxtapositions have led critics to compare him to the likes of Scott Walker and Frank Zappa, but Greep is all his own.
We can’t wait to experience Greep's radical take on futuristic pop music when he visits Roskilde this summer.
