OFA – the title of Oxlade's confident debut album from 2024 – stands for "Oxlade From Africa". If anything, it's a mission statement indicating that the Nigerian singer has come to deliver a pan-African musical party. OFA does just that with an irresistible blend of pop, R&B and Afrobeats that's already setting dancefloors around the world alight.
Like many of African music's current pop stars, Oxlade got into music by singing in gospel choirs. This is reflected in a passionate vocal that elevates both heartfelt ballads and sweaty bangers with soulful harmonies.
Already in 2020, Oxlade broke through with the EP Oxygene and the hit "Away", which Rolling Stone named one of the best songs of the year.
