Since their inception in 1999, Belgian band Amenra has been one of the key names on the European post-metal scene. The band is rooted in ultra-heavy genres like doom metal and sludge and has refined an open and exploratory sound where brutality and melancholic atmospheres form a complex whole.
Throughout their career, the band has released five excellent albums as well as numerous EPs. In 2025, they released the two EPs With Fang and Claw and De Toorn, which together showcase the band's heavy mastery. The band's willingness to innovate is also evident in their project Church of Ra – an extended collective of like-minded artists with whom they regularly collaborate.
With their alternative metal, Amenra creates a ritualistic feeling on stage, immersing the audience in a dense darkness. It can be gloomy or downright terrifying, but the band's noisy mass of crushing riffs, screaming vocals and heavy drums will leave you feeling cleansed.
Unfortunately, Amenra had to cancel their concert at Roskilde Festival in 2022. Fans of experimental metal can rejoice all the more that the band is finally visiting the festival with their heavy sound.
