Extreme cult band combines raw noise punk and a bloody stage show

  • Thursday 3 July

There are many bands that seek to create a maelstrom of chaos on stage, but few succeed as well as Brooklyn band Couch Slut. They create carnage on stage with violent visuals, a grim and noisy soundscape, and a vocalist who goes to true extremes in her quest to create an intense and physical performance.

Frontwoman Megan Osztrosits has said that on stage she enters a state of trance – a trance that often comes from violent actions such as beating herself with the microphone till the blood pours. But Couch Slut is more than just blood-soaked stage show. Since releasing their debut EP My Life As A Woman in 2014, they've been pushing musical boundaries with a ferocious discharge of punk, noise and stinking sludge metal that has made them a true cult act.

The 10th anniversary of My Life As A Woman was marked with a re-release in 2024, when the band also released the new album You Could Do It Tonight. 2024 was also the year Couch Slut visited Europe for the first time, when they almost tore apart the festival Roadburn with one of their overwhelming concerts.

It's finally time for Denmark and Roskilde Festival. It will be a performance out of the ordinary, but be warned: It's not for the faint of heart!
