The meeting of classic heavy metal and traditional Mongolian music may sound surprising on paper, but once you've listened to The HU, it seems like a match made in heaven.
Traditional Mongolian instruments and the metal genre's penchant for epic melodies and muscular riffs come together in a grand mix, which is further elevated by the stunning throat singing, which is a rich tradition in Mongolian culture and gives The HU a unique sound.
It is music that touches on almost archetypal landscapes, but at the same time appears modern. The band calls their music Hunnu Rock, inspired by an ancient Mongolian empire. The name The HU simply means "human" and although the band, formed in 2016, cultivates deep traditions, the music has a universal power that unites fans of folk, rock and metal.
This is cemented by the fact that The HU have been in demand at numerous international festivals, garnering rave reviews and building a dedicated global fan base. In 2023, they played Glastonbury with a show that was captured on a monumental live album. The stage is set for a blast of a concert when The HU take over Roskilde Festival with their Hunnu Rock!
