Few bands in the nu metal wave are as beloved by fans and critics alike as Sacramento band Deftones. Groundbreaking albums like Around The Fur (1997) and White Pony (2000) continue to light up the eyes of fans of challenging metal, while Deftones have managed to bridge the gap between metal, alternative rock and atmospheric post-punk like few others.
Now, Deftones are back, marking 2025 with long-awaited new material. This release follows their most recent album, Ohms (2020), which proved that the band remains committed to exploring fresh, intriguing directions in heavy music. Ohms received glowing reviews, with NME praising the album for cementing Deftones’ status as “the most interesting heavy metal band in the world.”
Deftones remain in top form live, delivering their signature sound that blends elements of thrash, avant-garde metal in the vein of Meshuggah, atmospheric shoegaze, dark post-punk, and experimental rock. In spring 2025, Deftones will embark on a major U.S. tour, so you can expect to experience a band at their peak this summer!
The band has also celebrated several triumphs at Roskilde Festival, most recently with a highly praised performance in 2014. Deftones were booked for Roskilde Festival in 2020 and 2021, but both festivals were cancelled. This makes it all the more exciting that we can finally welcome Deftones back this summer!
