The CHISEL

Uncompromising energy and working-class rage from London's new punk heroes

An attack of unspoiled old school punk awaits, when The Chisel take to the stage. The London band hold the torch high with a raw aesthetic, hard hooks and working class lyrics sung with a thick Lancashire accent by magnetic frontman Callum Graham.

The band emerged from a new wave of English punk and is associated with bands like Violent Reaction, Arms Race, and Chubby & The Gang. After a handful of EPs, they received widespread acclaim for their debut album Retaliation (2022), which was hyped by media outlets like Stereogum with its mix of uncompromising hardcore inspiration, strong songwriting, and scream-along choruses.

Both the anger and intensity are intact on the new album, What A Fucking Nightmare, which Kerrang! magazine has called "the perfect soundtrack for a decaying nation". But even though The Chisels give society a beating, it is strangely uplifting to be carried away by the band's wild energy, which is especially evident live.

Attending a concert with The Chisel is like having uncomfortable truths spat in your face by a band that kicks down the door to chaos. But you come out on the other side feeling cleansed. See for yourself when the band hit Roskilde.
