What to call Fat Dog's music? According to frontman Joe Love, it could be categorized as "screaming-into-a-pillow music", and watching the five musicians throw themselves into the fray at one of their already infamous live shows, there's no doubt that they use music to vent frustrations. And you are invited to give in to the musical catharsis.
You could also call their music an intense mix of dirty rock’n’roll and rave culture bitten with elements of post-punk saxophone, scratchy electronics and klezmer thrown in. It's a blend that has gone down well with audiences and earned the South London band a record deal with indie label Domino, who released their debut album WOOF. in 2024.
Even before they released so much as their first single, the hype was already building thanks to the band's insane live shows. Their reputation as a great live band led to them joining the Viagra Boys on tour, and in 2024 they visited the prestigious SXSW festival, where Stereogum concluded that the band fully lived up to the hype.
The stage is set for a concert out of the ordinary when Fat Dog is unleashed at Roskilde.
