With soaring vocals, dreamy atmospheres and oceanic layers of noise guitar, young American artist Wisp brings the legacy of 80s and 90s shoegaze music into the present.
Wisp is a prime example of how platforms like TikTok, combined with the possibilities of the home studio, have brought alternative music forms of previous generations to new listeners. The 20-year-old musician broke through in 2023 with the viral hit "Your Face", which earned her a dedicated following and also attracted interest from the established industry. In 2024 she released the EP Pandora on Interscope and has been predicted a big future by several music platforms.
The inspiration from artists such as Cocteau Twins and My Bloody Valentine is evident in the beautiful melodies and grandiose guitar lines. However, with contemporary productions, Wisp also brings new elements to the classic shoegaze sound that she is clearly passionate about.
We can expect great things from Wisp, who despite her young age and few releases, is well on her way to gaining experience as a live artist. We look forward to experiencing her for the first time on Danish soil when she brings her poetic and fresh take on the shoegaze genre to Roskilde.
