When Swedish-Kurdish duo Biji takes the stage at Roskilde Festival, you're invited to a genre-busting sensory bombardment of a Kurdish party.
Rapper, poet and actor Robin Nazari and film director/music producer Maceo Frost draw on their entire creative background to create a unique look into Kurdish culture, brought to life through personal stories that exude love, celebration and freedom struggle.
Nazari and Frost both have Kurdish roots, and as Biji they have found a great outlet to celebrate a culture and language that has often been suppressed and contribute to a conversation about modern Kurdish identity. They do this through audiovisual shows and a flamboyant soundscape that sends audiences into ecstasy. Biji masterfully blends traditional Kurdish and West Asian music with contemporary fusions of hip-hop, Afrobeat, Latin and electronic dance music to set the dance floor on fire.
Biji have made waves in the international music scene with their two EPs BIJI Pt. 1 and BIJI Pt. 2 (both out in 2024), and they are set to deliver a show far beyond the ordinary when they bring their visionary love letter to Kurdish culture to Roskilde Festival this summer.
