Iconic Iceage singer brings sublime solo project to Roskilde Festival

Having left an unforgettable mark on Danish music as the frontman of post-punk band Iceage, garnering international acclaim and impressing with the experimental project Marching Church, Elias Rønnenfelt now takes on Roskilde Festival with new solo material.

Elias Rønnenfelt quickly became an icon of a new punk wave when Iceage's debut album, New Brigade, hit the Danish music scene like a hand grenade of undiluted musical desperation in 2011. Touted as one of the most important Danish debut albums of recent times, Iceage also attracted international attention, not least thanks to Elias Rønnenfelt's blend of cool swagger, artistic daring, and electric charisma.

Elias Rønnenfelt has proven himself to be a versatile singer and songwriter, releasing his first self-titled album in 2024 to great critical acclaim. On the album Heavy Glory he draws on a legacy of dark and dramatic songwriting with elements of Americana and country, where inspirations like Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen and Townes Van Zandt are evident, while Elias Rønnenfelt shines as a musical auteur in his own right.

"Sublime Americana thief" Elias Rønnenfelt was called in the Danish newspaper Information, and the international music press has also been enthusiastic about the album. "Heavy Glory is one of those perfect "frontman-goes-solo" albums. It takes elements from the artist's previous band work and expands them to exciting new places," wrote New Noise Magazine.

Heavy Glory is a significant new chapter in the story of one of Denmark's most important rock singers, and expectations are high when he brings the solo material to life at Roskilde Festival this summer.
