Rock music takes strange new forms in the hands of ever searching trio

  • Wednesday 2 July

With unstoppable curiosity and unconventional structures, Moin challenges expectations of what a rock band can and should sound like in our time.

The trio, consisting of English musicians Joe Andrews and Tom Halstead and experimental Italian percussionist Valentina Magaletti, who could be heard solo at Roskilde Festival in 2024, bends the rock idiom in new and unpredictable directions with inspiration from metal, avant-garde and electronic music.

Since their debut album Moot! from 2021, Moin has unfolded an expression that has been described as a form of cut-up rock music, where chaotic fragments form new and always surprising connections based on post-punk guitars and polyrhythmic drum figures.

Recently, Moin released the album You Never End (2024), adding new poetic layers to their music with the help of vocalists such as Sophia Al-Maria and Coby Sey. Live, Moin have a reputation for creating a unique and visceral concert experience where you're never sure what's around the corner. A great recommendation for anyone with a penchant for exploring the outer limits of rock.
