SUNDAY 29 JUNE

Original and atmospheric blend of country and alternative rock

  • Sunday 29 June

Experimental rock nerve, punk energy and pedal steel-soaked country/folk come together in Soap Horse's atmospheric universe.

Soap Horse is a brand new project on the Danish underground scene. Its creator, Hans Gustav Björklund Moulvad, is no unknown quantity, however, as his previous project Mavourneen has garnered recognition and has toured and collaborated with musicians such as Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth) and Trentemøller.

As Soap Horse, he opened for The Raveonettes on their US tour in 2024, and his music clearly has international ambitions too. He is currently based in London, where he collaborates with names such as the living legend John Parish (PJ Harvey) and Mikko Gordon (The Smile, IDLES).

So far, Soap Horse has only released a handful of singles, but with their distinctive blend of country and dark avant-rock, they whet the appetite for more. When Soap Horse visits Roskilde Festival this summer, he has assembled a strong live band. You can look forward to hearing the likes of Nils Gröndal (violin), Daniel Hilden Honoré (saxophone), Uffe Nørtoft (pedal steel) and Benedicte Pierleoni-Nielsen (drums), who together with Moulvad will unleash the many layers and moods of the songs.
