American singer-songwriter and producer Christopher Taylor has said of his Body Meat project that his ambition was to create a project where he could switch genres as often as he wanted to.
It's a strategy he employs diligently, and the result is an unpredictable yet highly stimulating musical rollercoaster ride through everything from autotuned pop, trap and R&B to Ethiopian funk, metal and glitchy electronic soundscapes.
His unconventional approach to zapping between styles and still creating engaging music that oozes personality was evident on his early EPs, which generated a lot of hype in alternative music media. His debut album Starchris, released in 2024, caused the music press to drop their jaws with excitement. Pitchfork labeled it Best New Music and called the album "one thrilling detour after another".
On Starchris, Body Meat draws inspiration from role playing games and video games as he shapes the album as a hero's journey through a myriad of phantasmagoric worlds. When Body Meat visits Roskilde Festival, you can get ready for a wild, vivid and moving adventure through a melting pot of genres and expressions.
